How Are You Supposed to Wear a Fanny Pack?

Why, I’m delighted you asked! Arguably the best feature of the timeless fanny pack is its versatility. Unsure of how to style your new belt bag? We’ve got you covered!

The fanny pack rose to popularity in the ultra practical and accessible hip format. Fasten the bag around your hips as if it were a belt and you can customize it further by placing the pouch wherever you like best! On the side, in the front, on the back. Fun fact: the name fanny pack originated in England and but was referred to as a ‘bum’ bag. Once the bags crossed the pond they earned the name ‘fanny’ pack referring to one’s behind. Fanny does not mean the same thing in the US as it does in the UK, so I would advise calling your fanny pack a bum bag or waist pack if you find yourself abroad!

The fanny pack’s sporty-cool cousin, the crossbody. Going out to the market? On a hike or walk? Taking the bicycle for a spin? Sling the bag over one shoulder and upgrade your outfit with this breezy, stylish look. Up to you if you prefer the pouch on your back or in the front for easy access.

The Clutch

Easily transform your hiip fanny pack or crossbody bag into a clutch for a more sophisticated evening look. Simply slide the belt strap out from the bag, tuck it in into your bag and you’ve elevated your look from day to night. We even love sliding the belt around our waist without the bag to up the ante just a bit more.

As far as I know, there are three ways to wear a fanny pack. But don’t let me limit you. If you find another way to adorn your hip pack, not only do I implore you to rock that form of self-expression, but also please message me about it so I can add it to this list.

Stay hiip,
